My first fundraiser of 2015 was a Polar Plunge for The Disabled Americans. Headquarters are are just 20 minutes away and I hope to bring as many to their doorsteps as I can. 2015 got off to a -25 to -40 windchill and was never exactly a good time to get wet. Moved the date back to a warm twenty degrees and eventually did something for a deserving organization.
If you want to take a ride downtown Cincinnati cruise down Republic Street in Over-the-Rhine and you will find The Joseph House of Cincinnati. The Joseph House is a very unique and special place. The services they offer our homeless veterans via shelter and food, the Marx Recovery Center, and special out-patient and reintegration programs, is second-to-none. The staff is well-trained, successful, and best of all caring. Mr. Nate Pelletier, the executive director, and Mr. Murray Belew, the director of operations, are in part responsible for my continued interest in philanthropy. They are both retired military, so that enhances my opinion of them by a modest mathematical amount. Our guest, Mr. Anthony Munoz, was put here for more than football. He is both genuine and generous and he posed for a couple-hundred pictures or so. Here is the article from the Cincinnati Enquirer about The Joseph House 5K: http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2015/05/23/loveland-teen-organizes-raises-veterans/27648851/ This was my first five-figure payday in philanthropy, but it won't be the last.
The Association of Fundraising Professionals in Cincinnati has named me their 2015 Outstanding Youth Philanthropist and I attended a banquest November 12 th at The Duke Energy Center to receive the award. I was able to address 900 people at the conference that are all philanthropists. There are opportunities before the awards ceremony to meet with fundraising professionals who deal with millions of dollars, while I will likely be dealing with thousands of dollars. In August I received a phone call from Dr. Suzanne Allen, President and CEO of Ohio Philanthropy, informing me that I have been selected as The Ohio Philanthropy 2015 Emerging Philanthropist. I did some quick research and found out this is a special award.
The banquet was held at the Westin Hotel September 18th and true to form with Ohio Phulanthropy this was a very professional and festive banquet.
I am extremely honored and receive this award on behalf of all the American veterans who have inspired me. www.philanthropyohio.org
We had the perfect summer day to raise funds for The VA Hospital Benefit & Car Show. Quaker Steak & Lube and Smyth Automotive made I had everything needed for a first-class event. I had the opportunity to shake hands with everyone in the parking lot and take pictures with many of them by their rides. There was a surprise sports memorabilia auction with mostly donated Bengals and Reds items and not only was this fun, but it was very popular. Spring will bring me back to Quaker Steak as the participants, many of whom were vets, were so wonderful to spend a day with, and Quaker Steak's generosity is limitless. The Smyth staff was obviously the best partner for a car show, but the people I worked with and got to know well are truly giving.
Senator Joe Uecker was my guest speaker at the 2017 My GI Foundation Soldier of The Year Banquet. Senator Uecker has been kind enough to attend two events I have hosted for my veterans. He has represented the 14th District since 2013 as a Republican member of the Ohio Senate.
