Operation Winter Storm may have subsided, but please continue to donate or contact us if you are in need.
The generosity shown towards this winter initiative was humbling. No veteran should be on the street, let alone over 64,000 nationwide.
We are finishing this great experience and I am proud of my classmates who have partipated. Through the Magnified Giving program, I have gained more philanthropic leadership experience, and hopefully this enitre experience will be a catalyst for one of my classmates to get involved in philanthropy on a higher level. The best part is our team will be able to award at least $1,000 to a local 501 (c) (3) at a banquet. It is an honor to be asked to lead this project. Thanks Mr. Todd Forman for your belief in my abilities and ambition. www.magnifiedgiving.org
The My GI Foundation created Shelter for Soldiers, with an online fundraising group known as the Philanthropy Group. They provide a specialized site and all monies raised are kept securely until needed. As often, they will be needed by my vets at The Cincinnati VA. They were easy to work with and left me more time to work for my vets and as requested, all money was given to the homeless vet fund at The Cincinnati VA Hospital in December of 2016. All veterans should want for nothing. www.philanthropyproject.com
Thank You for coming out to The My GI Veteran's Fundraiser at General Custer's Golf & Gulp October 8th. Weather was beautiful and those that could play all day seemed to reappear one or twice. This was fun for the whole family and a wonderful gesture for our veterans. The website is www.generalcusters.com. They will open as soon as spring time allows.
Thank You to Union Township for providing such a beautiful facility to host The "MY GI" Night. The projection unit and my Bose speaker made the Omaha Beach scene especially real. Also, a special thanks to Ohio Senator Joe Uecker (pictured) for coming to answer veteran's questions. It was an honor to have my 8th grade history teacher come out, Mr. Fletcher, who was a West Point Graduate. He helps with multiple events during the year and is one reason I like history, government, and politics. Another West Point Graduate, Mr. Brian Gillo, a mentor who just popped up on my radar this past year, is as helpful as he could possibly be on anything West Point. He is genuine and can talk West Point as long as you can keep up. My former track guru and US Army and Naitonal Guardsmen, Captain Phil McDonald, showed me a side I had not seen with his command of politics as the fellas tossed down Subways and talked about America. One of my advisory board members and Director of Clermont County Veteran's Services, Howard Daugherty, took some time to stop in for a veteran's cause. If you googled him, you would see why I asked him to be one of my mentors. I am so very fortunate to be surrounded by these guys.
I hosted my 2nd Annual My GI Foundation Car Show at Quaker Steak & Lube this June and it was a special day. Smyth Automotive again served as our sponsor for our awards and this was a beautiful sunny day with awesome cars and veterans everywhere. Last year we had a surprise sports memorabila auction and the bidders were very generous. This year the memorabila and the auction was very high end. Anthony Munoz was kind enough to donate items along with Boomer Esiason, Jim Tressel, Kellen Winslow, Steve Largent, Andrew Whitworth, Ickey Woods, Marvin Lewis, Troy Aikman, Michael Munoz, and Dave Parker. All proceeds will againn go to the Cincinnati VA, but will be earmarked for PTSD treatment and research this year.
Quaker Steak is so generous and helpful during the annual event. The staff really go out of their way to help promote the fundraiser experience.
I look forward to 2017!
On June 13th, 2016 The My Foundation was honored to camp out at hole #7 at the TPC 2016 Anthony Munoz Foundation Charity Golf Classic. Anthony Munoz came to a 5K I hosted last year and we made over $10,000 for The Joseph House. Anthony and his very cool son Michael asked us to help make the golf outing better, if at all possible. I had a gentlemen bring a full restored troop transport truck and park near the tee box. Anthony and his son Michael Munoz are honorable and truly are a huge part of philanthropy in Cincinnati.
We will always be glad to help with a Munoz Foundation event and look forward to a continuing relationship. The two collegiate mini Helmets from Tennessee and USC from Anthony & Michael were the most expensive items sold at the car show and memorabilia auction. Jim Tressel, buckeye coaching legend, had two signed mini-helmets. One from Youngstown State and one from Ohio State. Narrow Munoz victory and I would like to thank everyone who donated these wonderful items.
I'll be looking for even more next year. I gotta take care of my vets.
I have been asked by the president and publisher to agree to a magazine story for LEAD magazine www.leadcincinnati.com. I welcome the opportunity to promote The My GI Foundation and our reach into the non-profit world. The My GI Foundation is partnered with the Association of the United States Army and we could not be happier. The My GI Foundation is here for American veterans and all their needs. Thanks again to LEAD magazine. www.leadcincinnati.com
On March 23rd, The My GI Foundation sponsored an Easter Egg Extravaganza at the beautiful Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio. We are proud to have been part of your residents celebration with their children and especially their grandchildren and they were everywhere. We were able to get enough candy for 1,500 Easter Eggs! It was awesome to see the amount of pictures seemingly everyone took with our extra large bunny.
We brought The Easter Bunny with us, so the celebration would be extra special. He has grown to 6'1" and 225 lbs. and carried a lot of eggs.
I would like to thank the 166 residents who served our country in crisis. I got to talk with many of you while the Easter Bunny was entertaining. I love my veterans and The Veterans Home in Georgetown was very impressive.
I personally took home much more than I brought by having been part of this celebration. I do what I can for my veterans and armed forces. This celebration was also great because my role was just funding and I just got to sit back and watch, which is not the norm at banquets or speaking engagements.
Thanks for having us, Hopefully, the bunny can make a return trip!
On Monday, May 15th, 2017 Senator Joe Uecker was my guest speaker at the 2017 My GI Foundation Soldier of The Year Banquet. Senator Uecker has been kind enough to attend two events I have hosted for my veterans. He has represented the 14th District since 2013 as a Republican member of the Ohio Senate.
